Another Day, Another Move!

It’s becoming quite like a bad game of musical chairs with the Cardinals bullpen.

We have yet another to report today!

Raul Valdes will be joining the St. Louis Cardinals and Maikel Cleto is headed to Memphis. Here’s the St. Louis Post-Dispatch story on the moves.

Raul Valdes will join the St. Louis club from Memphis, while Maikel Cleto heads to Memphis.

In reading this story, numbers stuck out. This move MIGHT be pretty good for our dear team! Valdes has done pretty good for himself while with Memphis.

Valdes began the year as a starter for Memphis, but he’s reinvented himself and revived his season as a reliever.
Acquired this past offseason after spending some of last year with the New York Mets in the majors, Valdes has held opponents to a .109 average in 14 relief appearances since making the switch. He has a 0.55 ERA as a reliever, and in those 16 1/3 innings he’s struck out 16 and walked one.

Oh!! A reliever with a 0.55 ERA … Don’t know about you guys, but I’m dancing!

If you can stomach the executive talk, here’s a piece to put your mind at ease about the bullpen. Mozeliak is going to look for help! Woohoo! I keep forgetting this isn’t Walt Jocketty’s team … moves CAN be made!

Also, Shelby Miller and Carlos Martinez will represent the Cardinals in the Futures Game during All-Star festivities in Arizona. Here’s Derrick Goold’s piece on that little bit of info about future Birds on the Bat!

Also, here’s a preview about tonight’s game featuring Chris Carpenter and Roy Oswalt. Should be a good match up!! Enjoy! Go Cardinals!
