Game Five At A Glance

Chris Carpenter

Led by a monster performance from Chris Carpenter featuring a 3-hit, complete game shut out, the Cardinals are on their way to another Happy Flight as the the Birds on the Bat beat the Phillies 1-0.

It was definitely the pitching match-up it was billed to be as Carpenter faced his friend, teammate and fellow Cy Young winner, Roy Halladay.

The Cardinals got to Roy in the first inning as Rafael Furcal hit a triple and Skip Schumaker knocked him in with a double.

And that’s all that was needed.

That… and a dominate pitching performance from Carpenter in which he gave up only three hits and struck out three. Carpenter got a ton of help from the players behind him as well. Furcal, Nick Punto, Lance Berkman, Jon Jay and Schumaker all making great plays that left fans gasping for air at times.

Our friends the Rally Squirrel and Torty Craig are no doubt happy!

Now it’s time to face NL Central foe, the Brewers. And what a series that will be!

Looking forward to it friends! Go Cardinals baby!
