Catching Up With The Cardinals, Holiday Weekend Edition

We’ve reached a rather quiet time in Cardinals Nation over this long holiday weekend.

Just before Thanksgiving, of course, came the news that the Cardinals offered salary arbitration to Albert Pujols and Edwin Jackson — which Albert is expected to decline — and did not offer arbitration to Octavio Dotel, Rafael Furcal and Arthur Rhodes.

The day after Thanksgiving meant that passes for the Cardinals Winter Warm-Up are now on sale. The Warm-Up is Jan. 14-16 at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch. Find all the details and purchase your passes online here.

If your starting to miss baseball more every day, start planning your trip to Jupiter, Fla., for spring training. The schedule was released last week. (And baseball can’t come back soon enough!)

While we’re all enjoying holiday time with our families and friends, so are our favorite Cardinals back in their hometowns — which means their hometown newspapers are writing about them. Chris Carpenter is in New Hampshire, talking about how thankful he is for reaching his big league dreams.

Matt Holliday shared his World Series thoughts with the Stillwater, Okla., newspaper and he’ll be the guest of honor at the All-Star Holliday Dinner and Auction benefiting his high school next week.

And Mitchell Boggs will be the grand marshal for the Christmas parade in his hometown of Dalton, Ga., next Thursday. There are definitely perks for having “World Series Champion” in front of your name.

Speaking of the World Series, remember, you have until 6 p.m. Central Time tonight to enter our giveaway of the two-disc World Series film set. Enter now, then check back tonight to see if you’re one of the lucky winners.
