  1. Here are some of the questions you should ask Charlie Tilson if you have another chance to interview him:

“So you said you wanted to be a ballplayer since you were a little kid, were there any people who discouraged you? A teacher who said perhaps you should focus on your homework rather than daydream patrolling the outfield at Busch? Anything you’d like to say to them now? We’d be glad to pass that along to them.”

“What’s life like on the road? Do you guys get to go out and party? I hear Palm Beach is one seriously great party town once the bingo games let out.”

“What’s the dumbest thing you’ve seen on a baseball field? What’s the dumbest thing you’ve ever done on a baseball field? And were they the same thing?”

“What is the team telling you to work on? And how are you working on it? And if we asked your manager about that, what would he say?”

“How do you live when you’re at home during the season? Is it like that movie Sugar, where you live with a family and have a crush on your host’s daughter, who takes you to her Bible study group, or do you just sit around playing Call of Duty all day until you have to break it up and head to the ballpark for your job? And if you answer you’ve never seen the movie Sugar, you need to get on that right away.”

“What sucks most about being a ballplayer? Because to me, the answer would be simple: The groupies, of course. They’re relentless.”

“Tell me what you like most about Justin Bieber. And what would you be like if you got to meet him in person. Would you squeal like a preteen girl? Because, honestly, who wouldn’t?”

“Does Tony LaRussa look scary to you? Because he does to me. Like he’d knife you in the gut if you missed a sign. Any regrets that you won’t be playing for Tony LaRussa?”

“Last question: Have you ever farted in the catcher’s face? And if not, why not? Especially if there are runners on base. Gotta support the team, you know.”
