We’re not venturing too deeply into the past today, given that Michael Wacha was in college last year. But, for those of you wanting an extended look at one of the spring sensations for the St. Louis Cardinals and the team’s top draft pick in 2012, here you go.
It’s the Lone Star Showdown, Texas A&M versus Texas, from May 20, 2011, and the two teams were tied for the Big 12 lead. Wacha, of course, starts for Texas A&M against Cole Green of Texas. And maybe you’ve noticed Wacha’s physical resemblance to Adam Wainwright — looks like he could be his little brother, right? His pitching ability is similar too.
So settle back and enjoy.
In other Cardinals throwback news from yesterday, Willie McGee was named special assistant to general manager John Mozeliak and will focus his attention on the minor leagues. Read more about that here. Welcome back, Willie!
