Just those words alone brings back so many memories for us as Cardinals fans — no need for year or Game 6 of what. We just know.
It’s no surprise that Game 6 is part of the Baseball’s Greatest Games series produced by A&E Home Entertainment. It was instantly a classic — the Cardinals down to their final strike in the 9th before David Freese’s triple, down to their final strike in the 10th before Lance Berkman’s single, then “we will see you tomorrow night!” in the 11th.
And now five of you will win your very own copy of the DVD/BluRay combo of Game 6 courtesy of A&E so you can relive that incredible game anytime — all as a way to celebrate even more fantastic World Series moments from 1947 on and other classic MLB features that are now available on iTunes.
Details on how you can win in a second …
More than 100 MLB titles are now live on iTunes, which already includes hundreds of classic games as well as podcasts and award-winning mobile apps from MLB Advanced Media such as MLB.com At Bat.
The new available programming includes The Best of the Home Run Derby and “Prime 9: All-Star Moments;” Official World Series Films dating back to 1947, including the 1969 and 1986 films; the first season of “This Week In Baseball,” which originally aired in 1977; a documentary offering a fresh perspective on Jackie Robinson’s life and career; recent productions including a comprehensive film chronicling every era of World Series play and documentaries created to celebrate notable anniversaries for the Mets, Astros and Red Sox; bloopers titles highlighting the funniest MLB moments; and many other titles.
Any of these films can now be downloaded from the iTunes store (www.iTunes.com/MLB). Prices range from $1.99 for individual episodes of “Prime 9” and “This Week in Baseball” to $19.99 for the Official 2012 World Series Film in HD.
Sounds like an amazing amount of MLB history and more and, personally, I can’t wait to download the 1964 World Series Film and to see some of those original “This Week in Baseball” episodes my brother and I used to watch on Saturdays back in 1977.
How to win a Game 6 DVD/BluRay combo
So what about that Game 6 giveaway? We’ll be using Twitter for this — so your first step to winning is to follow Aaron Miles’ Fastball at @AMilesFastball.
Next: think about what your favorite piece of Cardinals memorabilia is. One of the replica World Series rings? An autographed photo of Ozzie Smith? A baseball you caught at old Busch Stadium? The framed photo collage from 2011 with pictures from the NLDS, NLCS and World Series clinchers, David Freese’s raised fist as he ran to first base plus a vial of dirt from the Busch infield during the playoffs and a snippet of a baseball used in the 2011 postseason? (Yeah, that one is mine.)
Whatever your favorite is, take a photo and tweet your picture to our Twitter account, @AMilesFastball. If you have room for a brief explanation, perfect! If not, that’s OK — Twitter does have its space limits.
And tweet us your pic before midnight Central Time next Wednesday, July 31. We’ll choose five of our Twitter followers at random to win the Game 6 DVD/BluRay combos and be back in touch to get more info from you.
That’s all you have to do!
One entry per Twitter account only, please, and winners must be in the U.S. or Canada.
